All Hallow's Eve!

Scary movies, carving pumpkins, the start of the holiday season, costumes, candy, trick or treating, haunted corn mazes/haunted houses.  These things all add up to shout in your face that it's HALLOWEEN!

Here in Cedar City, you can't really tell that it's almost that amazing holiday.  The days are sunny and bright, even if they have a chill and there's frost on the ground in the morning.  There aren't decorations around campus, and the trees are barely changing color.  The leaves that have fallen aren't even crunchy.  And amidst all this I hear about how up in Orem it's already snowed.  I am so sad I missed the first snow of the season!

Scary movies, what are some of your favorites?  I love What Lies Beneath, The Ring, Watcher in the Woods, and more.  But some of my favorite movies to watch around this time are The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, Hocus Pocus, and Nightmare Before Christmas.  I don't know what it is about these movies, but they put me in such a good, halloween-y mood.

Carving pumpkins, have you done any cool ones recently?  I, sadly, don't have any money to buy a pumpkin, and I also have no where to put a carved pumpkin.  I have been wanting to carve one for a while now though.  I am going through withdrawals.

Costumes, what are you dressing as this year?  I, once again, don't have money to buy a costume.  I had the brilliant idea of being Waldo, as in Where's Waldo?  I am going to wear some RealD 3D glasses, a red beanie, a white/red striped shirt and some jeans.  Super easy costume, right?  Wrong.  I have yet to find time to go out and get a white shirt that I can paint with red stripes, and I don't know where I am going to get a beanie.  Oh well.

Also, I don't think I am going trick or treating this year.  Sad, I know.  By the way, where are some of your favorite places to go?  I have yet to find the best places to go in Orem.  Although I won't be going trick or treating, the institute is having a trunk or treat....I don't know exactly what this means, but I am assured it is really fun.  Here's to hoping!

Saddest thing of all is that I haven't made it to any haunted corn mazes/houses/hospitals/trails.  I have been dying to go to Cornbelly's but I am too far away.  Which is also the case with the haunted forest, Nightmare on 13th, Castle of Chaos, and such.  I have been told there is a haunted hospital here, but what I have gathered is that it's not actually a haunted house.  It's an old abandoned hospital that kids sneak into around this time of year to freak themselves out.  There is a fraternity on campus hosting a haunted trail called the Haunted Hallows.  Of course, it costs money, which I don't have.  The frat guys gave me a simple solution.  Get a guy to take me, why didn't I think of that?  Oh wait, I did, and don't have any guys that would take me on a date.  Oh well.

Seems to me that Halloween is not going to be that great this year.  But, I did get the chance to make up my roommate to look like a zombie.  Her dance class was learning Thriller and her teacher told them to dress up.  I was really excited to use my theatre make up and stage blood again!
Here her make up is done ^^
Here is her make up, shirt, and hair all done! ^^
