Hair Day 1

I thought that I would start out this hair challenge with a simple hair do.  This is actually my run of the mill, out of the shower go to hair do.  It's super quick, easy and I like how it looks.

Since it's so simple, I am not going to do a video showing how to do it.  But I will tell you how I did it. There will also be pictures involved.

So I have a few steps that I do everyday before doing my hair, no matter what I am doing with it.

-After I shower, I like to towel dry my hair as much as possible.  This includes scrunching in the towel, rubbing the towel over it as I go to the ends of it, you know that kind of stuff.

-Next, I make my part and comb out any knots.  But I realized that when I comb my wet hair, it kind of clumps up and isn't very movable, it all wants to stay together.

-So, before I blow dry it, I find it makes it faster if I shake it out.  I probably look a little spastic doing this.  I shake it out from side to side and even do some head banging.  Sometimes after this I have to fix the part, then re-comb it but instead of combing down I comb out so it doesn't all stick together again.

-Now I am ready to blow dry my hair.  I just have a cheap Conair blow dryer, but it has been going strong for two years, so I like it.  I usually start by blow drying the back of my hair first, then the right, then the left. I try to hold the hair up and blow dry the roots so that it creates more natural volume.  It usually takes me 5 to 10 minutes to blow dry all my hair.

For this hair style you will need:

-dry hair
-a flat iron/straightener
-1 or 2 bobby pins (optional)

This hair style is super quick, and you can do it many different ways.  I have done it layer by layer (hoping to get more volume that way), but I have found it doesn't really help.  It is fastest to just do it section by section.

I just take two inch chunks of my hair at a time (all the layers) and run the straightener over it.  While running the straightener down, I usually have it turned in slightly so that the ends of my hair curl under slightly.  I then take the same chunk of hair, but just higher layers and do the same thing.  I repeat that technique until I have done all the way up to the roots.  I do that all around my head.

For my bangs I usually curl them in a little more than the rest of the hair, but since they are getting pretty long and annoying I just did them the same as everything else.  Then I took them, comb them so the will go back without any bumps, twist them a little bit, then secure with bobby pins.

 What do you think?
