This summer I have been thinking of different ways to organize my jewelry because what I've been doing hasn't been working. I thought I would start small. I don't have a lot of rings and I don't wear a lot of rings so I decided to start there. I wanted to make a ring box. I got my ideas from pinterest, but I didn't like one pin I saw there the whole way, so I mixed a couple of them together and I love how it turned out.
Start by gathering your supplies. I bought some hair curlers from the dollar store. (10 for a dollar and I only used 9)
Then I headed to Hobby Lobby to find a cute box. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, but I found the perfect one and it was only $2.99!
Then I just used this brown shiny fabric that I had a scrap of already. You can really use anything, but I like the silky look of it and you need something that is easily pliable, not a stiff fabric.
First thing I did was figure out that each side of my box would fit four hair roller in it, but they weren't quite long enough. So I took the ninth roller and cut it into small pieces to make up for it.

First thing I did was hot glue the little pieces onto the ends of the rollers.
Then I cut my fabric. I didn't do any measurements or anything. I just eyeballed it. It was about an extra inch longer than the rollers (1/2 on each side) and maybe four inches longer than the box, just to be safe.
Hot glue one end of the fabric to your first hair roller. Then glue the roller into the box. Make sure you can't see any of the roller, so you are only seeing the fabric. I just stuffed the extra on the sides into the box so you couldn't see the sides of the roller either. Then make a little pocket before putting the next roller in, because the rings will go in between the rollers, so you don't want your fabric pulled tight, it's going to be squeezed in between each roller, if that makes sense. Then you'll just glue in the next roller and continue until all four rollers are in one side and then you can do the next side.
I painted my box after doing this, which was probably not the smartest idea, but it worked. I would recommend painting it first then putting the rollers in.
I painted it a really pretty turquoise-y blue, that looks great against the brown fabric.
Then you just put your rings in and admire your handiwork.
I had some chalkboard paint too, so I made a little design so I could right stuff on my box.
It's sideways... I thought this would be cute to right little things on it with my new chalk markers.
I painted this late last night and this morning I came to find I painted it on the bottom of my box.
So I painted something else on the top...
It looks good if I do say so myself.
This was how it ended up.
I love it!! And it was super easy, fast and it only cost me like 4 bucks.
Wahoo!!
Now what to make next?
