WOOT!! They look so good and were soooooo cheap!
Now, I will teach you how to make them while spending less than 10 bucks!! WAHOO!
You are going to need some things first off.
-Frame (4x6 = $1, 5x7 = $1.50 @ Wal Mart)
-Paint (White = $1.15 Blue= $0.75 Green = $1 @ Wal Mart)
-Ribbon (I already had these, but you can get them cheap at Wal Mart, too)
-Paintbrush (I used a make up brush that I already had, but you can get some at Wal Mart)
-Glue (I used my roommies Krazy Glue, which you can get at Wal Mart, or get a hot glue gun)
First you are gonna want to decide how you want to do it. You can make a big one like in my earlier post and make a wall hanging, or you can do small ones like me and just have them on a desk or mantle or something. Then decide what you want on it. I really liked the Fleur De Lis idea, but also wanted to do something for myself, thus the peace and love. You can print out your pictures, but I don't have a printer.
I found the pictures online, saved them to my computer, zoomed until they were the perfect size for my frame and then I turned my laptop over and traced the images onto a peice of paper.
Then, you are going to put the glass from the frame you are using onto the piece of paper and tape it down so it doesn't move while you are painting. You then paint over the image you are using. For the Fleur De Lis, I wanted a little more antique look, so after two coats of white I took a paper towel and rubbed some paint off. I then took a q-tip and fixed the edges so they weren't smudged all over. But with the peace/love one, I just painted it and let it dry.
Now, depending on the type of frame you have what you do next is going to be different. My frames were ones you pop out the glass and it snaps back in. I just kept the black cardboard in and popped in my glass. You want the glass in so that the painted side isn't on the outside (this way you can clean the glass without ruining your painting). If you have a back open frame you will want a hot glue gun. Put some hot glue in the corners of the frame and put your glass in carefully, this way you don't need a back on your frame and your glass won't fall out (great if you want to hang it, and want it clear through).
Then you will do whatever you want with your ribbon, I just Krazy Glued mine straight onto the glass for the bows. The bottom on the purple is actually just taped to the back side of the frame.
If you want to hang it up with the ribbon, you will want to hot glue it to the sides. For more instructions, go here!
Have fun, and be creative!!
