Wacky Wednesday :: Robert Lewis

Here comes seventh grade.  It was around December or January.  My friends Brooke, Emily and Aushel were planning a party.  It was gonna be a big party and probably one of my first boy/girl parties.  I was really really excited for it.

Friday came around and it was party day!!  My parents dropped me off at Emily's house and I went downstairs.  There were lots of people, we were listening to music, eating chips and dip, playing foosball and air hockey.  It was really fun.  I found my friend Brei and we played some air hockey and just did some chit chatting with others around us.  Not too long into the night someone decided we should play truth or dare.

We sat around in a big circle.  Everyone was choosing dare, because they didn't want to seem like wimps.  Sadly, we were seventh graders and the worst dare we could think of was making whoever was dared to slow dance with whoever the darer chose.  So Brei ended up dancing with Michael, Morgan and McKenzie danced and I danced with Robert Lewis.

Let me tell you, I had never seen this kid before in my life.  It was really awkward to dance with him for 30 seconds to a minute in front of everyone else.  I didn't even know his name yet.  Also, he was disgustingly sweaty...

After we finished our game of Truth or Dare the party quieted down a little bit.  For some reason we turned the slow music on again.  Everyone ended up dancing with the same people that they had been dancing with in the game.  Which brought me dancing again with Robert.

This time I found out what his name was at least.  But we weren't dancing for very long before I noticed something weird happening.  While we were all dancing Emily and Aushel would take a guy that was dancing with a girl and go talk to him for a second while the girl stands there awkwardly.  He would come back and they would dance again.  I thought this was really odd.

Eventually they came and got Robert.  I was left standing in the middle of the room alone.  McKenzie (who was dancing with Morgan) came over to me.  She was all excited saying something along the lines of how Robert was going to ask me to be his girlfriend.  I then gathered this is what had been happening.  Brei and Michael, Morgan and McKenzie, and now me and Robert were all couples.

So Robert comes back and we start dancing again.  He, of course, asks me to be his girlfriend.  I say yes.  We exchange numbers, and the party is over.

I soon realize that we not only didn't have any classes together but we also had lunch at different times.  So, we "dated" for two weeks.  In that two weeks I only saw him once, when by random chance my keyboarding teacher had us go to a different lunch period.  I remember running up to him and giving him a hug.  That's about it.

Finally, I realized that it wasn't working out, so I wrote him a note to break up with him.  I was also a jerk about it.  After saying that it was over I asked him if he could put a good word in for me with another really cute boy.  Ya, that worked out really well for me. (That was sarcasm, if you couldn't tell)

Not too long after that, the semester ended and we got new classes.  My best friend Jessica ended up being in the same drama class as Robert.  That led to them going out/being boyfriend/girlfriend, whatever you want to call it.  Within like a week of them "dating" they shared their first kiss.  In seventh grade! I thought that was stupid.  I wasn't jealous or anything, I just thought they were idiots.

I never saw him again, but every once in a while I would see his friends at the local pool and they would harrass me.  That's about it though.

Thanks for reading!
