Wacky Wednesday :: Cade Taylor

I have to say that this is one of my very favorite stories.  It's quite funny, one reason for that may be that I was in fifth grade.  But, enough of that for now, let's get on with it, shall we?

Fifth grade was upon me.  I had my group of friends and I knew most of the people in my grade.  I don't want to say that I was popular, because I wasn't but I did know a lot of people and I was friends (ish) with most of them.  Well, the first time I remember seeing Cade he was wearing a Jazz jersey.  He was pretty tall, with blonde hair and a cute smile.  I heard someone yell his name, but I thought they said "Kid."  Pretty weird that I thought his name was Kid for a while.... 

Anyways, the year went on.  I finally found out what his name was, but I didn't talk to him and he wasn't in any of my classes.  You might be wondering when the story is actually going to start, and I promise it's about to happen.

In spring, I was sitting in church.  A boy named Andrew Seegmiller (story with him to come later) was in my sunday school class.  We were talking and out of nowhere he asked me who I liked.  I (stupidly) told him I liked Cade Taylor.  That was the end of that and I totally forgot the whole conversation for a while.

One day at recess I was walking around the playground with all my friends.  At one end was this whole group of guys from my grade.  They kept looking over at me and my friends and whispering.  I thought nothing of it.  When we were passing them, one of the guys shouted out "Katrina likes Cade!"  I stopped.  Cade was in the middle of all the guys, I looked at them all and they were all smirking at me.  I went straight up to Cade (I was quite the brave little fifth grader) and I said, "Yep, I like you, do you like me?"  He didn't say anything.  Me and my friends walked away.

Cue April first.  That's right, April Fool's.  I decided to wear my sisters old cast on my arm.  One of Cade's friends, Tyson, sat next to me in class.  He told me that Cade liked me.  My response went something along the lines of "Happy April Fool's to you too."  Tyson was like, "No, I'm serious." 

Being the fifth grader that I was, I wrote out a note for Cade.  It looked a little something like this:

Tyson gave it to Cade and later in the day, gave it back to me.  I was surprised to see that he had circled LOVE!  *Gasp!*  I was ecstatic.

This was how much of our relationship went.  We would write each other notes, pass them to an in between who would get it to the other person.  One day it was snowing, I only remember this, because this was the first time we talked face to face.

We slowly made our way to each other, and I don't remember what we said, I just remember we didn't talk a whole lot.  We stood there together though.  It was SOOOO romantic.  Haha.  I also remember going back to my friends and them asking if I got my first kiss.  No, I was in fifth grade, doi!

Another memory, during Red Ribbon Week, my school was hosting a skating party at Classing Skating.  The day of the party Cade wasn't at school.  He had strep, and I was so sad.  The best part of Classic Skating was the Snowball songs.  The ones where they would have all the girls sit on the side and a guy had to ask you to skate.  I finally had someone to ask me on all those songs, and he wasn't going.  Darn my luck.

Well, I went to the party anyways, and just hung out with my friends.  Cue Tyson and the boys.  You remember Tyson right?  He is Cade's friend, and the one that told that Cade liked me.  Well for some reason that year, he decided to call me Devil Woman.  Out of nowhere really, because we had kind of been friends earlier on in the year.  Well, that night he was calling me Devil Woman and being a real jerk.  It made me so mad.

In my note to Cade the next day, I told him of all the incidents from the previous night.  His friend gave him the note and the next time I saw him was recess.  I was sitting with my friends, just talking.  We watched Cade walk over to Tyson, he put his arm around Tyson's shoulders, and the next thing I knew he punched Tyson in the gut.  Yikes.  Tyson still sat next to me and he was furious.  After recess, he told me he hated me, and that I was the devil. 

I thought it was nice of Cade to stick up for me, but it was a little ridiculous that he had to be violent to his friend.  Anyways, my birthday was coming up.  Cade knew when my birthday was and I was wondering what he would do for me.

Well my birthday came.  I had a birthday party which only two people attended....sad day, but it was super fun.  I was opening presents with my friends and my family when a car pulled up in front of my house.  Cade's little sister got out with a box and came to my door.  I opened it, said thank you and she left.  I was so embarrassed.  I opened the box and inside were some little body sprays and a bunch of hershey's kisses.  How sweet! But, my sisters began taunting me. 

Not too long after that I was getting sick of all the teasing and taunts.  My friends were ruthless and it was annoying.  So one day at lunch I was over it, I told them all that I had broken up with him (when in reality I hadn't, I just didn't want to be teased anymore).  Next thing I knew, he wasn't talking to me.  Word got around and he thought that was my way of ending it.  I never talked to him again.  Which was really sad, because I still really liked him.  I tried to have his sister talk to him for me and everything, nothing worked.  Then after 7th grade he moved and I haven't seen him since.
